Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe The historic city of Kiev (Kyiv) is the country's capital. In 1945, Ukrainian SSR became one of the co-founder members of the United Nations. On 26th April 1986, a nuclear reactor exploded at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
