Start of the show

The 1st show of the tour in underway

The show was a rager; the rest of the photos speak for themselves

Bishkek is the capital of Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan achieved independence in 1991 following the breakup of the Soviet Union

Bishkek is an attractive city, especially in summer when its thousands of trees provide color and shade

Bishkek is a modern city with vast squares & crowded bazaars

The Kyrgyz speak both Russian (official language) and Kyrgyz (state language)

They are predominantly Sunni Muslims of the Hanafi sect

Bishkek is a city of wide boulevards and marble-faced public buildings

In 2002, the US obtained the right to use Manas as an air base for its operations in Afghanistan and Iraq

During the Soviet era the city was home to a large number of industrial plants

But most have been shut down or operate today on a much reduced scale

This show turned out to be the highlight of our Middle East tour of May 2007

There was a great exchange of energy on this night that cannot felt with photos alone

Steve Mead did a great job filling in on base for the entire tour

Rockin' the house

Near the end of the set

Encore!
