Rome is the capital of Italy and one of it's greatest, most historic cities Rome was founded in 753 BC and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site The Trevi Fountain is the largest and most ambitious of the Baroque fountains of Rome The tradition holds if a visitor throws a coin into the fountain, they are assured of another trip to Rome The Spanish Steps, built in 1723, linking the Bourbon Spanish Embassy to the Holy See By the way, a great Stones album; check it out The underground in Rome These guys are 2000 years old The Arch of Constantine, dedicated in 315 The Coliseum of Rome, a giant amphitheater completed in 80 AD The Coliseum could hold 50,000 spectators and was the largest in the Roman Empire   Monument of Vittorio Emanuele II, begun in 1895, built of pure white marble The monument was built to honor Victor Emanuele, the first king of unified Italy The monument holds the tomb of the unknown soldier with an eternal flame

The monument was featured in the 2003 movie, The Core This was shot on our first trip to Rome in July, 2002 The Coliseum was in use for 500 years holding Gladiator contests and other events
