Band Performs at UCSD for
Nader Rally
|
Liquid Blue met a living legend on
Saturday in the person of Ralph Nader. To some, Nader has become
controversial due to his presidential bids but there is no denying
the positive impact he has had on our society. The band played three
songs to open the Nader Rally at UCSD including "If You Gotta Ask"
and "Real". Scott Stephens had the privilege of
introducing Ralph to the enthusiastic college crowd.
Ralph Nader is a consumer
advocate, lawyer, author, and has been named by Time
Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Americans
in the Twentieth Century. For over four decades Ralph Nader
has exposed problems and organized millions of citizens into
more than 100 public interest groups to advocate for
solutions. His efforts have helped to create a framework of
laws, regulatory agencies, and federal standards that have
improved the quality of life for two generations of
Americans. His groups were instrumental in enacting the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Consumer Product
Safety Commission, and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Because of Ralph Nader we drive
safer cars, eat healthier food, breath better air, drink
cleaner water, and work in safer environments.

Liquid Blue Headlines Festival In
Belarus with 16,000 in attendance
|
Liquid Blue was the headliner for the
annual Beatles Forever Festival in the city of
Logoisk,
just outside the capital of Minsk on June 7th. Belarus is a communist country
that has recently had rough relations with the United States but the
festival is a coming together of people, not politicians. Bands from
around the world attended and over 16,000 fans turned out. Liquid
Blue performed an hour set of Beatles classics with
emphasis on works that were originally recorded with Sitar. These
include Norwegian Wood, Across The Universe and others. Songs by George Harrison (My Sweet Lord, What Is Life), John
Lennon (Imagine) and Paul McCartney (Junior's Farm) were included. Last year, Two From Blue, the acoustic duo of The Grovler
and Scott Stephens, performed a show at the Beatles Cafe in Minsk.
The owner was pleased enough that he invited the entire group back
to perform at this years festival. Europe is the 5th continent the
band has visited in 2008!

"If You Gotta Ask" Nominated for 2008
Posi Award
The
emPower Music & Arts "Posi
Awards" have completed their 2008 nominees and "If You Gotta Ask"
has been nominated for a Posi in the Social and Spiritual Action
category. The Posi (Positive) Awards, introduced in 2005, honor the
songwriters and artists who are spreading the uniting message of New
Thought through music. Each year, the winners of the Posi Awards are
announced at a gala awards ceremony featuring the powerful music and
extraordinary artists who are transforming lives and helping to
achieve peace on our planet. The Posi’s have grown from relatively
few submissions in 2005 to about 500 songs submitted in 2007,
indicating that the Posi Awards have quickly gained national
attention. All Posi Awards are “people’s choice” awards,
meaning the winners are selected through the popular vote of people
who hear the nominated songs. All of the nominated songs are
featured on the Itoi New Thought Songwriters Tribute CD each year.
The Posi Awards ceremony is held at Unity Village in Kansas City, Missouri, in
September, and features all of the year’s nominees performing their
nominated songs during
New Thought
Music Week, Sept 14th thru 20th, highlighted by the Posi Awards
Sept 14th and a Mega PosiPalooza concert Sept 15th.
