News Flash 12/31/2002: 

Liquid Blue in Las Vegas for New Year's Eve

 

Liquid Blue will again perform at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year's eve. Last year the band also performed at the Monte Carlo and they've been brought back again this year.

BlueGirl Layla Making Her Mark in Surfing

 

Liquid Blue dancer and BlueGirl member "Layla" finished 2nd in the United States Cold Water Bodysurfing Championships held in Oxnard, CA. Layla is the current World Bodysurfing Champion.

BlueGirl Dana Damian to Sing National Anthem

 

Liquid Blue vocalist and BlueGirl member Dana Damian will perform the Star Spangled Banner at the San Diego Gulls Hockey game on November 26th.

Liquid Blue performs sold out show in Primm, Nevada

 

Liquid Blue performed a sold out show at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada on Sunday, November 11th. The event was invitation only. Photo left is from event just prior to encore.

Liquid Blue to Perform at Roller Derby Re-Union in L.A.

 

Liquid Blue will perform at the annual pro Roller Derby Skaters re-union in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 2nd. Many famous former skating stars will be in attendance. Liquid Blue vocalist Scott Stephens was a former member of the L.A. T-Birds.

Liquid Blue awarded Best Band at San Diego Music Awards

 

Liquid Blue received "BEST DANCE BAND" at the 12th annual San Diego Music Awards. The awards were presented at Humphrey's By the Bay and the entire show was recorded for broadcast on Friday, November 8th on cable TV.

Liquid Blue to sing National Anthem for San Diego Gulls hockey Game

 

Liquid Blue vocalists Nikki, Dana & Scott will perform the Star Spangled Banner at the San Diego Sports Arena, October 13th, for the the San Diego Gulls hockey team.

Liquid Blue to sing National Anthem for San Diego Sockers Opening Game

 

Liquid Blue vocalists Nikki, Meleilani & Scott will perform the Star Spangled Banner at the San Diego Sports Arena, Sept 28th, for the big opening night of the San Diego Sockers of indoor major league soccer.

BlueGirl Layla reaches finals of Surfing contest

 

Layla, who just recently became the World Bodysurfing Champion, reached the finals of the Surf for the Sea event held September 22nd in Oceanside. Layla was surfing on a borrowed board!  

 

News Flash 9/13-14/2002: 

Over 130,000 witness Liquid Blue performances at Dalian International Fashion Festival in China

 

Liquid Blue performed at the  Dalian International Fashion Festival on Sept 13th and 14th at the sold out People's Stadium in Dalian, shown in photo below. 
The band performed at the Festival's opening ceremony to a capacity stadium crowd of over  65,000, both nights. The event was also televised to over 100 million Chinese people.

Liquid Blue meets Chinese Governor, Mayor

 

Liquid Blue was honored to be introduced to the Governor of Liao Ning province, Bo Xi Lai and the mayor of Dalian, Le Yong Jin. The band also met many other dignitaries on their recent tour of China.

 

News Flash 9/16/2002: 

Liquid Blue performs theater concert for Chinese television

 

Liquid Blue performed a 2 hour concert at the City Walk theater in Dalian, China, two days following their big performance at the International Fashion Festival. This was strictly a Liquid Blue concert and was filmed for a television special on the band to air later in the month. The band received a warm reception from the capacity crowd and several fans rushed the stage with bouquets of flowers for the vocalists, Scott and Nikki. The cover of the concert program is shown left.

San Diego Music Awards: Nominated for "Best Band"

 

Liquid Blue has been nominated for "Best Dance Band" by the San Diego Music Awards. The nominees are selected by a panel composed of music industry representatives. Past winners included Rockola, the Steely Dammed and the Heroes.

Liquid Blue to headline benefit concert for 9/11 Victims

 

Liquid Blue will perform at the Cherish Peace concert at Pasadena City College on Sunday, Sept 8th to benefit New York City. Fashion artist Yang Shuquan will finish a painting during the Liquid Blue performance. His last stroke will commence with the final note of the final song of the concert! Ticket prices are $40 to $100.

Liquid Blue will perform at Jimmy Love's in the Gaslamp on Friday, Sept 6th, during Street Scene 2002. Street Scene is California's largest music festival and this year features Ja Rule, Stone Temple Pilots, Bad Religion, James Brown, Unwritten Law, The Crystal Method, Live, Wyclef Jean and so many more

Liquid Blue has been asked to participate in a press conference to discuss their participation in the Cherish Peace event, Sept 8th. The conference will be held in Los Angeles at noon on Tuesday, Sept 3rd. CNN and several local Los Angeles television networks will be present

Liquid Blue original songs on radio in Asia

 

The Liquid Blue song "Making Up" has become the first Liquid Blue song played on air in Asia. Radio stations have also picked up three other Liquid Blue tunes, including Be My Baby Tonight, Gotta Get Back to My Heart and Let the Music Move You.

The new and improved Jr. BlueGirls will make their debut at Qualcomm Stadium, Saturday, August 31st at 6:00pm.

BlueGirl "Layla" Wins World Bodysurfing Contest

 

Layla Biolango of Liquid Blue is now the official Women's World Bodysurfing Champion in her age category of 18-29. Layla, who is also an avid board surfer, competed in the 26th annual Bodysurfing Championships in Oceanside, CA. on August 16-18 2002.

Liquid Blue featured in Gig Magazine

 

This month's issue of Gig Magazine features an article written by band leader Scott Stephens on building an effective band web site. Gig contacted Scott several months ago after reviewing the Liquid Blue website. The article spans five pages and features a couple of photos. Gig is a national publication with a circulation of 37500.

Liquid Blue will perform in six European countries from July 1st to July 21st. The countries, in order are:

News Flash 6/25/2002: 

Band Releases Four Song EP

 

Liquid Blue has just released a single/EP featuring the original song "Making Up". The disc also features three other songs; "Let the Music Move You", "Gotta Get Back to My Heart" and "Be My Baby Tonight". The producer is the renowned David DeVore who has produced many multi-platinum albums for artists such as Santana, Elton John and many more.

News Flash 6/15/2002: 

Liquid Blue honored as one of the top 12 bands in the USA for 2002

 

Liquid Blue was again selected as one of the top 12 dance bands in the United States, by DanceCoverBand.com

The band received Honorable Mention status this year, with 10 other bands from across the United States. 

Last year (2001) Liquid Blue won the award as the very best dance band in the country.

News Flash 5/31/2002: 

Liquid Blue to headline 101 KGB's Sky Show!

 

For the 2nd consecutive year, Liquid Blue will perform at KGB's Sky Show event at Qualcomm Stadium, following the Padres game on Friday, May 31st. The concert will be held in Sky Show Village, section D-1, immediately after the conclusion of the Padres-Brewers and the spectacular fireworks show. Past headliners have included Def Leppard and Eddie Money. The band will also sing the National Anthem prior to the game.

News Flash 5/24/2002: 

Deep Blue to make debut at Pounders

 

Deep Blue (Liquid Blue minus the BlueGirls) will perform its first show on Friday and Saturday, May 24th and 25th at Pounders in Escondido. Deep Blue will feature the five male members of the band, with an occasional female guest vocalist. This version of the band will perform many songs that you won't regularly hear at most Liquid Blue shows, especially hard rock and metal tunes.

Liquid Blue to Perform Concert at San Diego Sports Arena!

 

 

Liquid Blue will perform concerts on April 20th and June 1st, following the San Diego Riptide's Arena Football League games, at the San Diego Sports Arena. The band will also perform at halftime.

News Flash 4/8/2002: San Diego Padres Home Opener

Liquid Blue has been named to perform at the San Diego Padres home opener on April 8th.

News Flash 4/62002: 

National Anthem at Riptide's Home Opener a smash!

 

Liquid Blue performed the National Anthem for the San Diego Riptide's home opener and first game ever in the new Arena Football League. The event was at the San Diego Sports Arena, April 6th. The 9,747 Fans went wild upon hearing Liquid Blue's special rendition of the anthem, which includes parts of "America the Beautiful" and the "Pledge of Allegiance". The anthem was broadcast live on KPOP AM 1360, and the announcer said he "got chills" during the performance.

Performance at Local Prison

 

Liquid Blue has been asked for a return performance at the Richard J Donovan Correctional Center in San Diego. The band played at the prison in 2001 also.
